| Resolutions
Adopted by the 116th Annual Diocese
of Oregon Convention
There were no resolutions submitted
prior to convention, but four resolutions
were developed on the floor after
delegates heard Bishop Itty’s
address and in response to elements
in that address. Resolutions #1,
2, and 4 passed. Resolution #3,
Creating a commission of Multicultural
Ministry, was referred back to
Diocesan Council for further attention.
Resolution #1: Reclaiming the
Great Commission (passed)
Resolved: That the 116th
annual convention of the Episcopal
Diocese of Oregon affirms and establishes
as the focus of our diocesan life
the fundamental themes of Christian
Discipleship, Mission, and Evangelism,
as we experience the renewal and
transformational power of the Gospel.
And be it further
Resolved: That this convention
accepts as its own the priorities
embodied in the present Triennial
Budget of the Episcopal Church,
USA, namely ministry focused on:
• Children,
Youth, and Young Adults,
• Promoting
Reconciliation and Evangelism
among ourselves and with others,
• Congregational
Transformation and Spiritual
Renewal,
• Encouraging
Ministries of Peace arid Justice,
• Partnerships
in Ministry at all levels from
local to international.
And be it further
Resolved: That this convention
charges the Diocesan Council to develop
a strategic plan, establishing measurable
goals and mechanisms to serve the
priorities established above. In
so doing, Council will seek a broad-based
consensus by which existing structures
and programs might be changed or
dropped and new ones implemented
as may be warranted. Council will
offer a report (or interim report)
on this strategic plan to the 117th
Annual Convention.
Resolution # 2: Renewal of Congregational
Ministries (passed)
Resolved: That this 116th
annual convention of the Episcopal
Diocese of Oregon encourages the
congregations of the Diocese to pray
and work for the renewal of their
own ministries, including the adoption
(or reaffirmation) of one evangelism
program, tool, or resource, employing
its use during the coming year.
Resolution # 4: Environment —Stewardship
of water (passed)
Resolved: That this 116th
Convention of the Episcopal Diocese
of Oregon challenges every Episcopalian
of the diocese to adopt at least
one water conservation measure
during the coming year.
And be it further
Resolved: That the Environmental
Commission be encouraged to utilize
all available means to disseminate
information about water-saving measures
and the worldwide water crisis and
make available educational materials
to assist the diocese in living out
this resolution.
