My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am very saddened to receive and accept Jonathan Weldon’s letter of resignation as Canon to the Ordinary of the Diocese of Oregon, effective May 31, 2008. I accept and understand his desire to pursue another venue of ministry during this time of Episcopal transition.

I feel truly blessed to have served in the vineyard of our Lord with Jonathan. He has been a compassionate pastor, gifted administrator, and a truly valued colleague and friend. His ministry has been a wonderful blessing to so many clergy, lay leaders, and churches throughout our diocese. I am fully confident that the Lord will continue to bless Jonathan and Sharon, and their daughters as they continue to serve Christ’s church in a different place.

In the time preceding Jonathan’s departure, he will be taking vacation and sabbatical tim so he and Sharon can prepare practically and spiritually for a new ministry in a new location.

May the Lord shower upon Jonathan and Sharon and their family an abundance of God’s blessings, now and in the years to come.
