I, like may Americans, grieved over the death of President Gerald Ford.  I served as Gerald and Betty’s pastor from 1978-83 while serving as Rector of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Palm Desert, California.  Not only did I officiate at their daughter, Susan’s wedding, but I also did some contract work at the Betty Ford Center listening to 5th steps.  I found Gerald and Betty to be down to earth and gracious people.
