The Rev. Bill McCarthy
The vestry of The Church of the Good Samaritan, Corvallis, unanimously voted recently to bestow the honor of “Rector Emeritus” on the Rev. Bill McCarthy, who served the church for 17 years.

“The title of ‘Rector Emeritus’ comes with no obligations or canonical responsibilities—and sadly, no stipend. But it is a way for us to honor Fr. Bill and Bernie and all they have given and shared at Good Sam over the years,” said the Rev. Simon Justice, Good Samaritan’s rector.

“Although he doesn’t have to; I am pleased to let you know that I have asked Fr. Bill to celebrate and preach from time to time, so don’t be surprised if you see him around,” Justice wrote to parishioners in the December parish newsletter, “Good News…From Good Samaritan.”
