Members of the Iconography Institute at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral presented Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori with a gift icon Hagia Aekatarina (Holy Catherine) on Sunday, April 22, at the Cathedral to honor her election and installation. The icon was carried into the sanctuary by Sherry Lynch, the Institute’s master iconographer and instructor along with Christopher Armstrong-Stevenson, the Institute’s coordinator, for blessing and the laying-on-of-hands by the entire congregation and clergy. In attendance were four retired Episcopal bishops: The Rt. Rev. William Ladehoff, the Rt. Rev. John Spofford, the Most Rev. Edmund Browning (retired presiding bishop) and the Rt. Rev. Rustin Kimsey. They joined the Rt. Rev. Johncy Itty, eighth bishop of the Diocese of Oregon and Bishop Paul Swanson, Oregon Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
