Stewardship Conference in Portland-Scholarships Available Now!

"The Greatest Stories Ever Told," is the title of the 2008 Province VIII Stewardship, Evangelism and Congregational Development Conference to be held this year in Portland, Oregon from June 26-June 28. The conference is billed as the "first ever (that we know of) multi-cultural, intergenerational family-friendly event that promises to help us tell our stories in ways that promote the Kingdom of God." Featured speakers include the Rev. Winfred Vergara, director of ethnic congregational development for the Episcopal Church; the Rev. Rebecca McCain, executive director of the Godly Plan Foundation; the Rt. Rev. Mark MacDonald, national indigenous bishop of the Anglican Church of Canada; and the Rev. Eric Law, founder and executive director of the Kaleidoscope Institute for Competent Leadership in a Diverse Changing World.

The conference runs from 11am-6pm, Thursday, June 26; 7:30am-8:30pm, Friday, June 27; and 7:30am-3:30pm, Saturday, June 28. Workshops cover topics such as: Small Group Ministry, Lectio Divina, Sacred Dance, Congregational Ministry in a Diverse World, Stewardship, the Gospel in Four-Directional Thinking, Web Design, The Celtic Faith and Story Telling and Stewardship Through Photography.

The conference will be held at the Monarch Hotel & Conference Center, 12566 SE 93rd Avenue, Clackamas (503-652-1515 or 1-800-492-8700; www.monarchhotel.cc).

he Children’s Program is designed in the same light as Godly Play. Stephen Bentley, the creator of the nationally syndicated comic strip Herb and Jamaal will assist the Youth Program.

Youth and Young Adults (ages 13-21) $150

Children (ages 4-12): $75

No charge for children under age 4, childcare (if required) will be available at parent’s expense.
