The second annual “Children’s Day at the Cathedral,” drew more than 60 children representing 14 congregations across the diocese of Oregon on Saturday, February 24 at Trinity Cathedral in Portland. “A Circle of Seasons” was the theme of the day-long event, which introduced children to the cycle of the church year. Children were divided into groups and rotated through four different stations: Advent/Christmas/Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week/Easter, and Pentecost/Ordinary Time. At each rotation children enjoyed activities such as arts and crafts, story telling and music representing part of the liturgical cycle. After lunch, the children posed with Bishop Johncy Itty in front of the altar, where the number of squirming bodies and goofy smiles attested to the fun they were having. About 30 adults helped with the program, which ended with a closing Eucharist.
