• Episcopal Diocese Remembers The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Several dozen walkers strode across town on the Steel Bridge from Northeast Portland to the Battleship Memorial in Waterfront Park in downtown Portland on April 4 to honor the memory and wisdom of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Members of the King Elementary School Choir performed. The walkers were greeted by Portland Mayor Tom Potter. Bishop Itty blessed the walkers and the Rev. Alcena Boozer, vicar of St. Philip the Deacon Church in Portland along with David Leslie, president of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO) spoke. The walk was sponsored by the Diocesan Commission to End Racism and EMO.
