•: Former Oregon priest to be consecrated as Bishop of Southern Ohio

The Rev. Dr. Thomas E. Breidenthal, who began his ordained ministry in Oregon, is to be ordained and consecrated the IX Bishop of Southern Ohio on Saturday, April 28, at the Mershon Auditorium on the campus of The Ohio State University. Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori will serve as the chief consecrator.

A scholar, teacher and author, Bishop-elect Breidenthal, 56, was elected by the clergy and laity of the Diocese of Southern Ohio at its annual convention in November 2006 in Portsmouth. The Diocese of Southern Ohio represents more than 25,000 people in 40 counties.

The service will be streamed live on the Internet. A link to the Webcast will be available from the diocesan website, www.episcopal-dso.org, on the day of the service.
