Icon display and presentation at Mt. Angel Abbey (Library) – (One Day Only)

As a result of a recent article in The Oregon Episcopal Church News, Lake Oswego iconographer Christine Ambrose has been asked to display some of her icons at Mt. Angel Abbey. Chris Armstrong-Stevenson, director of the Iconography Institute at Trinity, will give a talk on icons, during the annual "Friends of the Library" fundraising event at the Roman Catholic Benedictine Abbey in Mt. Angel. All are invited to attend.

The annual summer week-long beginner’s iconography class is especially offered so that those who live outside of the Portland area and who wish to participate in a class may do so. Prior years have included students as far away as California and New England and some clergy fulfilling their continuing education requirements. The class runs from 8:30 am-4 pm daily at Trinity Cathedral, 147 NW 19th Ave., Portland. Class size is limited 12. More information is available by emailing: trinityiconographers@hotmail.com.

The fall season’s beginner's iconography class is held on 12 consecutive Monday evenings, from 6:30-9 pm, at Trinity Cathedral. Class size is limited to 12 students and is filled on a "first-come-first-registered" basis. At the conclusion of the class, students can expect to have a completed icon. Join us for an "Open House” at the St. Andrei Rublev Room at Trinity Cathedral to celebrate the acquisition of the donation of a major gift of iconography reference books, given by The Rev. Dcn. Robert Carsner, of The Dalles. Come and see the library and icons written by members of the Iconography Institute at Trinity Cathedral.

On Saturday, October 10, at 3pm, Chris Armstrong-Stevenson, director of the Iconography Institute at Trinity Cathedral, will give a presentation on icons and their place in Christianity.

Icon Display at 121st Annual Diocese of Oregon Convention

As usual, Trinity's Iconography Institute will have a display of icons to inspire and uplift delegates and visitors to the diocesan convention. Iconographers will be on hand throughout the whole convention time to explain icons and their relevance and use in, especially, Western Christianity. Commissions will also be happily accepted for an icon of your choice, subject of course, to Orthodox Church Canons and Rubrics on the subject.
