Holy Orders and Vocations

God calls all Christians into ministries of all kinds.  After working in a variety of church ministries, a few baptized Christians feel the desire to discern whether or not God may be calling them to serve as a deacon or a priest.  Discernment for ordained ministry begins at the congregational level.  At that point the person should schedule a time to meet and share with a priest in their home congregation.  There they will decide whether the current time is right to pursue this desire further with a congregation discernment group.  All the steps in the process towards ordination are laid out in the Ordination Manual.

Commission on Ministry for the Ordained

The members of the Commission on Ministry for the Ordained are appointed for five-year terms by the bishop with terms beginning after diocesan convention.  The Vocations Coordinator works with the bishop and supports the Commission, and is the resource for discerners, clergy, and those in the process towards ordination.
