The Convention of the Diocese is the body of members of the Diocese entrusted with the authority to legislate to carry out the mission and ministry of the Church in the Diocese of Oregon. The Convention meets annually, and is composed of all clergy canonically and actually resident in the Diocese and of lay delegates elected by their congregations, and the Bishop of the Diocese presides over the assembly.1 At present the Convention is seeking to encourage and develop the priorities of “renewal and transformation through Christian Discipleship, Mission, and Evangelism”2 within our Diocese.
For a Church Convention or Meeting (Book of Common Prayer, page 818)
Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel for the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
