The Academy was organized in 1999 to give intentional education and training to persons who had a call to a particular ministry but felt they needed to gain increased skills in that ministry field. Volunteer staff assists individuals in their call to ministry. Classes are open to clergy as well as to lay persons. Both students and faculty are recruited without regard to denomination or geographical location. The Academy does not license students. All funding is by tuition, paid either by the student or the student’s congregation. Faculty is usually given an honorarium. Classes are designed based on the perceived interest of prospective students.
Recent offerings by the Academy include pastoral care, youth ministry, foreign languages, ministry development, and Celtic spirituality.
