Dear Diocesan
Family,
Your Standing Committee is happy to report that
they have selected an Interim Administrative Team: The Very Rev. Hollinshead
“Lin” Knight and Ms.
Arlene Ullman. They will be responsible
for deployment, vocations, convention supervision,
staff supervision, positive support of the Assisting
Bishop and the direction of questions and referrals.
They will share these responsibilities as part-time
employees. Both will be fully on board by May
1.
Dean Knight, “Lin,” has been serving
as the Interim Priest at St. Stephens, Portland
and prior to that at St. Paul, Salem. Arlene is
an active member of St. Michael and All Angels,
Portland and most recently served on the Commission
on Ministry.
In the convention arena, The Rev. Carol
Sedlacek has accepted the role of Nominations
Committee convener. She will work with those individuals
elected by convocations to define a slate of nominees
for our 2008 convention.
Our self-study will begin soon. Your Standing
Committee is close to finalizing a plan for that
study and contracting with a consultant. An announcement
will come to you very soon.
This is an exciting week as our Assisting Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Sanford “Sandy”
Hampton, arrives. His first day is Friday
which he will spend visiting with staff. We appreciate
all the wonderful emails and comments that “You
will love him.” We certainly expect that
we will. He is looking forward to meeting the
people of our diocese and will move toward that
goal in the next few months.
