We are pleased to announce that Michael Stone of St. Bartholomew, Beaverton has assumed the role of Treasurer of the Diocese. He replaces Jim Rue of Trinity Cathedral who served faithfully for four years. Once again the Standing Committee is thankful for all the people of the diocese who have come forward to help during this time of transition. Michael has begun work with Mary Miller, our new finance officer.
Looking ahead, the Diocesan Staff has reviewed the holiday schedule. In the recent past the Close has been closed the week between Christmas and New Year’s. This year the staff has opted to be open until noon on the 24th of December and to reopen on the 29th until noon on the 31st and then to reopen on January 5, 2009 for a normal work week. They will have the option to take vacation days during the week between Christmas and New Year's Day if approved by their supervisor.
The Commission to End Racism has announced a training, Seeing the Face of God in Each Other, for January 23rd and 24th at St. Bartholomew, Beaverton. This will be a Friday night and all day Saturday (until 4:00 PM) program for those who are part of the Working World. And, if you can’t make that one, watch for an announcement of the next training to be held in Grants Pass in the spring of 2009. This is a training you won’t want to miss; it receives rave reviews from trainees.
Our congratulations to St. James, Lincoln City. They have received a $25,000 UTO Grant for their kitchen. As we understand it, the kitchen is spectacular. Their outreach program is a model of ministry that we can all be proud of and learn from. Hats off to St. James. |
