Assisting Bishop of Oregon
The Rt. Rev. Sanford “Sandy” Hampton
The Rt. Rev. Sandy Hampton joined the interim administrative team at the Diocese in May 2008. He was ordained in 1966 and served in Illinois, Utah, Oregon and Maryland. In 1989, he was elected Bishop Suffragan of Minnesota, where he served until 1996, when he was appointed Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Olympia. He retired from that position in 2003. In his retirement, he has been serving a congregation of Episcopalians in Oak Harbor, WA. He also serves as chaplain to the retired in the Diocese of Olympia. He and his wife, Mari, live in Anacortes, WA. They have four children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Bishop Sandy spends two weeks a month at the Bishop’s Close. He works closely with the other members of the Standing Committee, the Board of Trustees, the Diocesan Council and the Diocesan Staff to help pave the way for the consecration of a new bishop.
