There are so many talented and gifted Lay and Clergy people in our diocese. It is a joy getting to know you through weekly emails, the annual convention and our visits here at the Close. As your General Services Administrator for the buildings here, I put to use years of hard negotiating skills in the business world to obtain maximum value when funds must be expended at the Bishop’s Close.

Mark Ohlson

Mark is a life-long Episcopalian and former advertising executive. Before joining the Bishop's staff in 2007, he owned a television production and marketing events company. He is a graduate of the University of Washington and is a native Oregonian. Mark is in charge of the physical plant at the Bishop's Close and also plans and manages the year-long process leading up to the annual convention (held in November). He manages the diocesan e-board, which is published electronically every Tuesday. Please send your parish or diocesan-related events and announcements to him at marko@diocese-oregon.org (two weeks in advance, if possible). Mark is the Bishop's representative on the board of the Elk Rock Gardens, the 12-acre grounds at the Bishop's Close . Elk Rock Gardens is endowed by the Kerr Family Endowment in memory of Peter Kerr, who owned the land and the mansion which is now the Bishop's Close . Peter Kerr's descendants gifted the property to the Bishop of Oregon.
