The New Churches Website

On Friday, February 4, we activated this new website for the Diocese of Oregon. The planning for the site started in July of 2010 and the building began in October. We are excited to have it up and working for the people of the diocese. We are sure that you will find it more accessible, more useful and more current.

Included in this development is a new site for the churches of the diocese as well. When you click on the link on the menu that says “Churches,” you are not just getting a listing of the all the active churches in western Oregon, you are also on a completely separate website. We did this so we could provide some new services for our members.

The churches site is built on a Wordpress blog format. This makes it possible for each church to create and manage its own information and news postings online. There are some member parishes using the Wordpress format for their own sites already and are familiar with what they are able to do with it. For those churches that have well developed sites already, this new site is another way to enhance communications. For churches that are looking for an easy way to create an internet presence, this is a new opportunity.

About This Site:

We hope this site provides helpful information and easy access to the various ministries of the people of the diocese. Episcopalians believe in the inclusion of all in the life and ministry of the Church as we have received it from Jesus Christ.

Our Purpose:

We believe we are called to praise the living and triune God in worship, to live out lives of love and charity toward the world, and to spread the good news of the Gospel to a world hungry for God.
