Part of Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s message at General Convention this summer was GO! In response, the 2019 United Thank Offering Grant cycle is now open and the focus is GO: Crossing boundaries created by race, culture, and economics to create communities that listen deeply and learn to live like Jesus.
Grant applications are for new ministries, including start-up positions, property or structures owned by a congregation or diocese, and construction costs. The application and instructions are located at www.episcopalchurch.org/united-thank-offering. There are new guidelines for writing an application and there will be four webinars to help you.
Webinars are a great way to learn about the application and submission process, to gain clarity on the focus and criteria for the application, and to ask specific questions about your application. You are welcome to attend as many webinars as you would like. If you cannot make any of the webinars for your grant process, you can still email Heather Melton, our UTO Missioner at email@example.com for help at any time during the process.
Completed grant applications should be mailed directly to our diocesan office care of the Ven. Canon Carter Hawley (email: firstname.lastname@example.org) on or before February 15, 2019 to allow the Grant Screening Committee time for review prior to submission to Bishop Hanley for his approval.
We have many reasons to be thankful and I look forward to seeing many new applications from our diocese. Your blessings will be shared by others, and the world will become a better place.
Peace and blessings,
United Thank Offering Representative
Diocese of Oregon
