Advent Quiet Day 2018

December 1 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Please come to the annual Advent Quiet Day, Saturday, December 1st, at the Parish of St John the Baptist, Portland, (on the campus of Oregon Episcopal School). The conductor will be the Rev. Andrew McQuery, Associate at St Paul’s Church in Salem. Fr Andy was ordained to the Priesthood last January, on the Feast of the Epiphany at St Paul’s and is a recent graduate of Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, New Haven, CT. He possesses a great love for the Church, including its liturgy, music, pastoral care, spiritual direction, and preaching ministry. He will give the meditations on an Advent theme. The day begins at 8:30 with the Holy Eucharist, breakfast (provided), meditations, intercessions at noonday, bag-lunch (please bring your own), and will conclude at 3:30 with prayers. The day takes place largely in silence, which a newcomer might find a bit odd at first, but it has proved for many an excellent way to prepare for the great Feasts of the Church Year. St Benedict’s Guild is happy to provide this “classic” event. Contact Fr Phillip Ayers, Chaplain, at (971) 275-2663 or at players@hevanet.com for further details.
