Final Taizé Service at Trinity Cathedral
January 13 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The Taizé service at Trinity Cathedral, which has been held on the 2nd Sunday of the month for over 20 years, is moving to St. David of Wales Episcopal Church beginning February 10, 2019. This decision follows on the heels of Barbara Bridge’s retirement as Music Director for this service, and has been made after careful consultation with the leadership of Trinity Cathedral, St. David of Wales, and leaders and participants in the Taizé service.
A celebratory dinner will follow the last Taizé service at Trinity Cathedral, which will be on January 13, 2019, 5:00 p.m., to honor Barbara Bridge and the many fine musicians and volunteers who have sustained this service over the years. Register for the dinner here: https://onrealm.org/TrinityEpiscopalpdx/PublicRegistrations/Event?linkString=M2Q0ZmI0NTItOWUwZi00NTBkLTkxN2MtYTliMjAxNzIzYWUx
The goals of this transition are:
• to offer virtually the same worship service under new musical and clerical leadership
• to preserve the most deeply treasured elements of this service, including reverence of icons, beautiful music, healing prayer, and silent contemplation
• to hold the service in a more intimate and acoustically appropriate space
• to support St. David of Wales Episcopal Church as they expand their worship offerings beyond Sunday morning
The Vestry, lay leadership, and congregation of St. David of Wales is excited to be hosting this venerable service. The Rev. Kerlin Richter, Rector of St. David of Wales, will head-up the leadership team for this service. Some members of Trinity’s Healing Prayer team, Caritas, will continue to support this service along with members of the congregation at St. David of Wales.
St. David of Wales is located at 2800 SE Harrison Street in Portland. There is plenty of on street parking.
Trinity Cathedral is deeply grateful to the Rev. Richter and the leadership at St. David of Wales for their willingness to carry on this meaningful service of healing and reconciliation to the greater Portland area. And of course, we will always be grateful to Barbara Bridge, our choristers and musicians, David Mitchell, and Trinity’s healing prayer team Caritas for their many years of faithful and prayerful service.
