Prince of Peace offers Afternoon Tea with Mum and Me
May 4 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm$15 – $20
Afternoon Tea with Mum and Me is a perfect event where all children and adults (children of a certain age) get a chance to “play dress up.” This year Prince of Peace Episcopal presents a “Circle of Love” with a flourish of Victorian wreaths and hair circlets. The frivolity begins on May 4th, 2:00 p.m. at the Mason’s Lodge, 1625 Brush College Rd NW and continues until 4:00 p.m.
The menu includes sweets, savories, scones with lemon curd and Devonshire cream, cucumber sandwiches, and of course English tea to enjoy. Besides the display of wreaths and circlets, Derrick Taylor again regales us with his monologue of droll English humor and the Girl Scouts always devise fun parlor games.
Our poster girl, the very Victorian lady, Miss Olive, tells us that hats are recommended but gloves are optional for Afternoon Tea. If you don’t own a hat, there are hats to choose from and ribbons and flowers to decorate them with at the door. There will even be prizes for hats including the most whimsical, beautiful, colorful and other categories.
Mother Goose, a resale shop for children, will be presenting a fashion show. Your child or grandchild can be part of the fun. Just take him or her to Mother Goose in Salem to be outfitted, by Saturday, April 27th. You do not have to purchase the outfit your child has chosen, but then again, you may want to.
Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, a growing and vital congregation, is located at 1525 Glenn Creek Rd in West Salem. Its mission is to worship God, grow in Christ and share the gifts God has given them with a world in need. Prince of Peace’s sharing includes disaster relief funds; a Community Garden for low-income families; Marion-Polk Food Share; the Spring Break Lunch Program; Union Gospel Mission and St Francis Shelter.
Tickets are available for suggested donations of $20 for adults and $15 for children ten and under. For tickets, please call 503-363-3458 or 503-585-1479.
