To all parishes: The Diocesan Disaster Preparedness team wishes to express its appreciation to those who responded to the updates regarding the flooding this past December. Fortunately, where communities were affected, local parishes were able to provide assistance. We did not call upon others. During this period, the Disaster Coordinator was in daily communication with ORVOAD (Oregon Volunteer Organizations Acting in Disaster) to learn what assistance would be needed. In the December case, except for the apartment complex at Newell Creek Canyon in Oregon City, no long term assistance with response and recovery was needed. The latter case is being handled through the Clackamas County Emergency Management Agency. This involves relocation for the 80+ affected families (displaced on Christmas Eve). Any local parishes that may wish to provided longer term assistance should contact Clackamas County Emergency Management, Ms Nancy Bush at firstname.lastname@example.org directly.
