St. Stephen’s Episcopal Parish was founded in 1863 and is located in downtown Portland, Oregon. Our long history of innovative social justice continues today. We are part of a diverse and rapidly changing urban neighborhood. We are seeking a part-time priest-in-charge.
Sunday Morning Services, with the traditional liturgy, inspiring sermons, and our beautiful music program, are important to our congregation. The church membership also is strongly supportive of our Sunday-through-Saturday outreach programs. Our new priest must be able to maintain – and to help grow – both parts of who we are.
Our congregation is small. We are not a young group, but we are involved, giving, and productive. Generally, we can accept change and are flexible. We are both realistic and optimistic.
St. Stephen’s has a reputation for kindness and generosity; for many decades, we have been proud to welcome and to serve. The Christian traditions of tolerance and inclusion are qualities of our church. We very much want a leader whose preaching and beliefs reflect these standards.
If you are looking for a rewarding challenge, backed by the support and love of a loyal, active congregation, please consider joining us as we live out God’s mission in SW Portland. Thank you.
