A collaboration between the music programs of Ascension Parish and St. Michael and All Angels Church, this recital will feature music by women of the Romantic period, including piano solos, piano duets and art songs by Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, and Lili Boulanger. The Oct. 5 performance will be a formal recital in the lovely sanctuary of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church.

Hail, Sweet Love: Devotional Music by Seventeenth-Century Women

Please join us for a recital of sacred early music by women composers, performed by soprano Dr. Samantha Arten of St. Louis University, and organist Emma Mildred Riggle, Minister of Music at Ascension Episcopal Parish. The concert will take place in Ascension’s charming and historic Sanctuary, and will feature our Baroque-style tracker organ. The program will include works by Francesca Caccini, Barbara Strozzi, Claudia Francesca Rusca, Isabella Leonarda, Lucretia Orsina Vizzana, and Maria Francesca Nascimbeni. A reception will follow the performance.

Come, Holy Spirit is the theme for the 2018 Episcopal Church Women Diocesan Spirituality Day to be held from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 19th. Check-in/registration begins at 8:30 am. The women of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Eugene are hosting this annual event on behalf of the Diocesan ECW Board. All women in the diocese are invited to attend. The day will begin with a service and a keynote speaker. This will be followed by workshops which will address a variety of spiritual and practical issues. Also there will be time to visit the market place and enjoy a visit with new and old friends over a delicious lunch.
