October 1, 2019 Update: our Diocesan Profile is live! Visit the 11th Bishop of Oregon Search and Transition website to read it and view information on how to apply or nominate a prospective candidate.
So what’s next in the Search and Transition process?
The members of the Search Committee will gather with their chairman, Martin Loring, as well as members of the Standing Committee and the Rev. Beth Mallon, chair of the Transition Committee, on June 28 and 29 at St. Thomas, Eugene for an orientation with our consultant, the Very Rev. Ron Clingenpeel.
At the orientation those present will review the timeline for our search and transition process, consider what subcommittees they will need to form in order accomplish the work before them, and will learn about the steps they must take in order to make certain that our process meets the canonical requirements for an episcopal transition in The Episcopal Church.
The Search Committee will leave the orientation ready to begin developing a diocesan profile, for which they will be seeking input from you, the people of the Diocese of Oregon. Please watch the diocesan newsletter and website beginning the week of July 8 for information about where and when focus groups will be meeting so you can plan to attend one in your area.
The Standing, Search, and Transition Committees will be working hard in coming months, so please keep us in your prayers.

A prayer for the bishop search in the Diocese of Oregon
“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
Eternal God, our times are in your hands. We trust in your providence and care for each of us and for the Diocese of Oregon. Guide us by your Holy Spirit that in all our praying, planning, discerning and decisions for the election of our new bishop that your plans unfold with grace and power through the work you have given us to do. Unify the diocese in love and strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ. It is in his Name we pray. Amen.
